For EVE, livability is about the quality of everyday life. It is about a city where you can live, work, and relax comfortably. A city where public space is clean and safe, where green areas are valued, and where culture is visible and accessible in both neighborhoods and the city center. Livability means having space to move, to unwind, to meet others, and to find peace.
EVE takes a different approach from many other parties. We do not see livability as a collection of isolated projects, but as a coherent whole. This is not a luxury; it is the foundation of a strong city.
1. Livability as a Guiding Principle
In spatial planning, mobility, events, and permitting, livability is central. Economic interests alone are not decisive. What also matters is what contributes to relaxation, culture, connection, and quality of life in neighborhoods and districts. In this way, projects and developments generate broader value for all residents.
2. Everything Within Reach, for Everyone
We design Eindhoven so that daily facilities are within reach, meaning no more than ten minutes away. Healthcare, green spaces, sports, culture, shops, and meeting places must be quickly and safely accessible to everyone, regardless of neighborhood, age, or income. We achieve this by investing in facilities, public space, and accessibility at the neighborhood level. Where provision is lacking, the municipality will intervene actively. In this way, we make daily life easier, strengthen livability, and ensure the city works for everyone, not only for those who can afford it.
3. More Space for Creators and Cultural Makers
EVE wants greater attention and support for creators and cultural contributors. We strengthen the city’s creative fringes as places for experimentation and innovation and make studio space easier, more affordable, and more accessible. Large cultural investments, such as a national museum, must not come at the expense of local creators. We therefore always connect major investments to the city and support local makers through funding, housing, and room to grow, including via the municipal development corporation.
4. Sport and Culture as Foundations of Livability
Sport and culture are essential for connection, health, and identity in the city. EVE particularly wants to strengthen smaller sports clubs and cultural providers with appropriate and affordable facilities and clear support. We make cooperation with the municipality simpler, improve their access to funding and space, and encourage partnerships with companies that want to support local initiatives.
5. Big Ambitions Require Ambitious Cultural and Sporting Choices
A city with the ambition and scale of Eindhoven requires meaningful cultural facilities, sporting opportunities, and events, from major venues and museums to leading festivals and tournaments. There is also a need for a large conference center. These strengthen both the city’s appeal and its livability. We actively stimulate this development and make use of Eindhoven365. At the same time, we ensure these events remain accessible to all residents through affordability, geographical spread, and cooperation with local creators and institutions. In this way, large-scale culture becomes a shared value for the entire city.
6. Improved Waste Collection and Clean Public Space
A livable city begins with cleanliness. We improve waste collection, tackle illegal dumping, and invest in proper maintenance of public spaces. The municipal development corporation will actively invest in livable infrastructure such as underground waste containers, circular facilities, and smart collection systems, so that growth does not lead to pollution.
7. Hospitality and Events as Drivers of Vibrancy, with Neighborhood Support
Hospitality venues and events create lively neighborhoods and a vibrant city. EVE supports entrepreneurs and organizers with clear regulations and faster procedures. New initiatives are given space where there is support in the neighborhood and where they fit the character of the area. In close dialogue with residents, we ensure that vibrancy and livability reinforce one another.
8. A Livable and Inclusive City Center for Everyone
The city center belongs to everyone. We design it to be accessible regardless of mobility, background, or income. We actively address vacancy and work together with hospitality, retail, and cultural partners to maintain Eindhoven’s identity. Participation plays an important role here as well. Less bureaucracy, more room for initiative, and creative use of vacant buildings will create a lively city center where people want to stay, not only consume.
9. Public Space as a Place for Encounter
Squares, parks, and streets are designed as places where people meet and feel welcome. We create space for both temporary and permanent initiatives in public space, from neighborhood activities to cultural programming.
10. Clean Air and Less Noise Pollution
We actively work toward cleaner air and reducing noise pollution. In areas under the greatest pressure, such as De Hurk, we accelerate choices for cleaner mobility, more greenery, and healthier working environments. Health and livability carry significant weight in these decisions.
11. Green and Water as Core Infrastructure
Greenery and water are not decorative elements but essential infrastructure. We invest in more trees, green squares, parks, and water storage in all neighborhoods, with particular attention to areas facing heat stress and limited green space. Neighborhoods themselves will also receive various forms of support to make their surroundings greener.
