For EVE, students and young professionals are a driving force of the city. They are not only building their own futures, but also that of Eindhoven as a whole. Thousands of vocational, applied sciences, and university students, as well as young workers, will keep tomorrow’s healthcare, technology, hospitality, culture, and sports sectors running. Yet too often they receive too little space in return. Housing is difficult, nightlife is under pressure, and their influence on policy remains limited. Students and young people are still too often seen as temporary visitors. EVE wants to strengthen their position. This is not only good for them, but for the city as a whole.

1. Night Public Transport as a Structural Provision

Night-time public transport will become a permanent feature befitting a growing city. This ensures that everyone can return home safely and affordably after studying, working, or going out.

2. Students as a Distinct Target Group in Housing Policy

Students will have a clear place within housing policy, with specific targets for numbers, locations, and housing mobility. This allows for more focused steering and prevents vulnerable living situations.

3. Accelerating and Smarter Use of Space

We will actively scale up home-sharing through a citywide campaign and clear objectives. Vacant offices and buildings will be converted more quickly into temporary or permanent housing for students, young professionals, and other urgent target groups.

4. More Space for Encounter and Organization

Student sports, events, and initiatives will become easier to organize. In this way, we stimulate encounters between different groups of young people and break through social bubbles, with explicit attention to integration between Dutch and international students.

5. Safety as the Foundation for Studying and Living

Safety is a precondition. From being safe on the streets to feeling safe at school or university. New students will receive a warm welcome with clear information about support services, networks, and initiatives. Dialogue, reporting points, and preventive measures will be actively facilitated. The visibility of the Night Ambassador will be strengthened.

6. Internship Guarantee for Vocational Students in Brainport

We will make binding agreements with employers to ensure sufficient internship placements for vocational students. We look beyond high-tech sectors alone and also utilize opportunities in healthcare, neighborhoods, culture, and sports. Where necessary, the municipality itself, together with social organizations, will provide internship positions.

7. Fair Internship Compensation as the Norm

Fair compensation for internships will become the standard. Where organizations are temporarily unable to provide this, the municipality will offer targeted support so that internships remain accessible to everyone.

8. Zero Tolerance for Internship Discrimination

We do not accept discrimination in internships. We will ensure accessible reporting points, active monitoring, and a consistent approach in cooperation with educational institutions and employers.

9. Nightlife Beyond Stratumseind

Nightlife should not be concentrated in a single location. We will distribute nightlife and cultural initiatives across different neighborhoods and venues, creating space for community-driven initiatives and clear agreements about safety and livability.

10. Permanent and Temporary Spaces for Subcultures

Subcultures are essential to a vibrant city. We explicitly recognize their value and adjust permits, regulations, and facilities so they have room to exist and grow, whether temporarily or permanently.

11. Structural Involvement of Students and Young Professionals

Students and young professionals will be structurally and proactively involved in policy concerning housing, nightlife, and youth issues. The municipality will facilitate and encourage this involvement instead of waiting for them to raise concerns themselves.
